Good morning May I introduce myself?
My name is Junjira. Please call me Jun for short. I'll be your tour guide for the rest of your stay in Thailand. I'll try my best to make your holiday as enjoyable as I can.
First of all, I'd like to welcome to my country, Thailand. Do you know the meaning of Thailand?
It means the Land of Freedom or the land of the free. Thai means" free" , so Thai people love freedom. Most Thai people are peaceful and friendly. They like to meet and talk to foreigners.
If you like to impress Thai people, you can greet them in Thai " Swasdi" .
It's a greeting word meaning" hello".
It can be used all day long. For men you can say " Swasdi ,Krub". For women, you say " Swasdi, Kha".
When Thais meet one another, they pay respect to each other by putting the plams together and bend their heads down. This is what Thais call " Wai". There are many ways to greet people depending on their social status.
To make you stay in Thailand a happy a happy one, I'd like to give you some advice about Thai culture and belief. Thai people in take off their shoes when they enter the house or the chapel in the temple. When you step into the chapel or Thai " The Bot" you have got to be careful to lift your foot over the threshold of the Bot, or you may trip over the threshold of the Bot. Why do Thai people build a high threshold at the entrance of the Bot? According to the Chinese, ghosts cannot walk, they just float little bit above the ground. So they will trip over if they want to enter the Bot, this is to prevent the devil or evil things to get into the Bot, In your tour, you will have a chance to visit Thai temple. So watch out your step before your enter the Bot.
